ADS1115: Output Data Rate and Decimation Factor

Part Number: ADS1115

Hello ,

I am using on 860SPS data rate (Which is mentioned Max ) in datasheet for ADS1115  but i am getting the data rate is 833 SPS only .

can you please let me know what will be decimation factor for this mode and how are we getting the data rate 860 SPS by which factor  ?

Any formula for calculating this factors  will be helpful for me .

Thanks and Regards

  • Aaditya,

I'm not sure if you need more detail than this, so if this doesn't answer your question, you can follow up with a later post.

The ADS1115 has only 8 available data rate settings for the device, of which 860SPS is the fastest data rate. There aren't any basic settings to get any other data rates. However, using the device in single-shot conversion mode can be done to get data at a particular period.

The ADS1115 has an internal oscillator to set the conversions, and this internal oscillator has some variation. We specify this at ±10%. You can see this in the electrical characteristics table here:

In your case, the data rate is 833SPS, where the typical would be 860SPS. That would be within the ±10% range listed.

Again, I'm not sure if that's the answer you're looking for. If you need more clarification, please post back.
