ADS1298ECGFE-PDK: Pull resistors in ADS1298 control lines

Part Number: ADS1298ECGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298,

Hi,

I have been using the ADS1298ECGFE-PDK as reference design for my custom ADS1298 board. I noticed which the I/O control lines such as PWDN, CLKSEL, RESET, CS, START have a pull up/down resistors. Is this really necessary? I have been using ADS1298 with TI MSP432P4111 MCU.

Thanks

  • Hi Otavio,

Pull up/down resistors are simply used when it is desired to keep the pin either high or low without having to drive it from the MCU.

Sometimes, the MCU does not have the drive strength to keep the pin high/low, so it's helpful to simply use a resistor to keep some pins in a known state.
