ADS8528: unipolar operation

Hi, I need to use the ADS8528 in unipolar operation. From the data sheet it does not look like I can set HVSS to 0V, is that true? If not, and I use +/- 5V will there be any negative consequences for unipolar operation. Can you recommend another unipolar serial/parallel part that can do 8 simultaneously sampling channels?

Hi David,

You can use the ADS8528 with a unipolar input, but the supply still needs a bipolar setup. The table in section 7.1 shows that you need at least -5V on HVSS - depending on the voltage you want to sample, HVDD can be higher than HVSS (i.e. +18 and -5 for HVDD and HVSS). We also have the ADS8588H and ADS8588S which operate on a single supply that may be of interest to you.

Below is a link to our parametric search with filters preset for 8-channel simultaneous-sampling SAR ADCs with single-ended inputs. As Tom mentioned, the ADS8528 still requires bipolar HVDD/HVSS supplies even if the input signal is unipolar (positive with respect to ground).
