ADS8910B: CONVST and ~CS connection and RST state

Part Number: ADS8910B

In the datasheet page 25; 7.4.1 RST State

......

"To exit RST state, the host controller pulls the RST pin high, with CONVST and SCLK held low and CS held
high, as shown in Figure 39."

which means we have to drive CONVST=0 and CS=1. In other words, we will have to drive these two signals separately with different levels: 0 and 1.

However, on page 47, Figure 86; the CONVST and CS are tied together. In this connection, we cannot drive these two signals separately. So, the ADS8910B will not get out the RST state.

Which one is correct? What is the explanation for this?

Thanks and regards

Wen

  • Hello Wen,

Holding CONVST low when RST transitions from low-to-high is not a hard requirement, just a recommendation.

In the case of a single control line for both /CS and CONVST, to exit the RESET state, the host controller can pull the /RST high, with SCLK held low and both /CS, CONVST pins held high.
