TPL0401A-10-Q1: Wiper register

Part Number: TPL0401A-10-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC43401

Hi team,

The wiper register holds the value at the time of the write command, but is the value updated regularly?

For example, can there be a situation where the register value and resistance setting differ due to noise or other factors?

If register writing and resistor setting are only at the time of I2C write command, I think that it may be the case.

Best regards,

Tomoaki Yoshida

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

After a write command is issued, the TPL0401 will set the internal switches to the desired tap point and then enter a steady state.  There is no clock-based behavior after that point.  The only noise would thermal noise from the resistor ladder and power supply.

As a side note, if your application allows it you could consider our new DAC43401 device.  Here is a short technote describing how a DPOT can be replaced with a precision DAC:http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa906/slaa906.pdf

    Thanks,

    Paul
