ADS55xx-Series

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5520

Hi,

I would like to know whether the ADS55xx series converters can be used with reset and without using the serial interface if only the "normal mode" is wanted?

What about the ADS5520; will the DLL be on or off after reset?

Thanks for immediate response - we are just busy with a new design and have to decide the converters family.

Regards Uwe

  • Uwe,

the ADS55xx family is designed to work without having to use the serial interface. Default after power up is normal mode of operation. All that's needed is power, data and clock input and the ADC should start sampling and provide digital output data.

However there is one external pin (DFS) that controls the output format of the digital data - either offset binary or 2s complement along with alignment on rising or falling edge.

Regarding the ADS5520 - the device comes out of power reset with DLL enabled which covers fast sampling rates from 60 to 125Msps.

    Best regards,

    Thomas Neu

  • Hi Thomas,

thank you very much for your immediate response - now I am sure that we can use the ADS55XX Family without problems.

    Best regards

    Uwe
