ADS7843: recommendation for display controller

Part Number: ADS7843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7845, TSC2004, TSC2005, TSC2007, TSC2003

Hello team,

I'm looking for a controller for resistivity touch screen with 4/5 wires which has Linux drivers (welcome are also for Windows EC7 ARM and X86), which is recommended for new projects. We would have identified the codes ADS7843 or ADS7845, are they a good choice?
From your point of view, is there anything interesting to propose?
What we are looking for is a 3v3, 4 and / or 5 wire controller with I2C, SPI or at most USB interface.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards,

Adrian

  • Any idea guys?

thank you in advance for your support.

    Best regards,

  • Adrian,

We have several Touch Screen Controllers and their selection depends on not just the analog interface, but also how it is controlled. One set uses command-based technology  (for example: ADS7843, ADS7845, TSC2003, or TSC2007) and a second sets uses registers-based technology with software-programmable features and functions (for example TSC2004, or TSC2005). These differences are covered in the Operation Schemes of Touch Screen Controllers Application Note. As far as the analog interface: ADS7845 supports a 5 wire interface, while the rest of devices support 4-wire interface.

TSC200x family has Linux drivers available under the Technical Documents or Design & Development tabs of their product pages.

All the touch screen controllers use SPI or I2C interfaces for control.

ADS7843 and ADS7845 support analog voltages of 2.7V to 5.25V. The Low power TSC2004 and TSC2007 support analog voltages of 1.2V to 3.6V.

Devices with "-Q1" are qualified for automotive applications.

This sets of specificationsgive you a quick start for selecting between the Touch Screen Controllers.

    best regards,

      Pedro
