ADS1013-Q1: About FSR of single ended

Part Number: ADS1013-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1014-Q1, ADS1013, ADS1014

Hi team,

Can you please answer the following question?

Is ADS1013-Q1 available only up to 2.048V with single-ended input?

To measure 3.3V input, can ADS1013-Q1 be replaced directly with ADS1014-Q1?

Thanks,

Sam Lee

  • Hi team,

In addition, the PIN2 of ADS1013-Q1 is connected to GND. When replacing it with ADS1014-Q1 directly in the same board, shoult the Pin2 (ALERT/RDY pin in ADS1014-Q1) be cut forcibly or not?

    Thanks,

    Sam Lee

  • Sam,

With the ADS1013-Q1, the ADC is really differential. However, the device can be differential by setting the AINN=0V. By doing this the ADC can be run as single-ended from 0V to 2.048V but you lose the negative operating range for the device. To measure a larger range like a 3.3V input, you would use the ADS1014-Q1.

If you are swapping out the ADS1013 for the ADS1014, then you will need to do something with the ALERT/RDY pin. The recommendation in the datasheet is to leave the pin unconnected or tie the pin to VDD through a weak pull up resistor. (This is mentioned on page 28 in the Unused Inputs and Outputs section).
