It is recommended to have heat sink for safety operation

Hi Sheree,

In active mode power depends on clock frequency, number of channels and voltage input. The worst power dissipation is 1.1W.

In this condition the junction temp will increase by 35C. During normal operation the average power dissipation will be lower due to active/ power down toggling.

That's no heat sink needed as long as Tj doesn't exceed datasheet absolute max.
