ADS1118EVM: 100518FB75

Part Number: ADS1118EVM

Hi,

I received the ADS1118EVM, but it does not respond to temperature variations through the software provided by you.

The lights on or off the unit work properly. Temperature at cold junction apparently works.

However the conversion is static at room temperature. Is the thermocouple in trouble? Any suggestions ?

Any suggestion ?

  • Hi Alexandre!

Welcome to our e2e  forum!  Can you provide a little more detail regarding the 'conversion is static' at room temperature?  Have you tried a bottle of Xingu versus a can of Budweiser?  You might be shorting out the TC...

  • Hi Tom !!

I really liked the suggestion of Xingu, I will try it today. :D :D

What I meant by 'conversion is static' is that temperature is always at room temperature, no matter if you put the thermocouple in a beer at 4 °C  or put the thermocouple in my mouth . I will test it with a new type K thermocouple or do you have any other suggestions of what is going on ?

    Regards

    Alexandre

  • Hi Alexandre,

Not sure that I would put the thermocouple in my mouth - Pao de Queijo, sure!  Especially with the Xingu.  The on-board thermocouple for the ADS1118EVM is located on AIN2/AIN3 so you need to set the MUX to 011.  See if that makes a difference.

  • Hi Tom !!

Works !! Thank a lot for your support !!  Next time I go to the USA, I will bring to you a box of Xingu and a pao de queijo recipes , if it's a city near your headquarters, by the way you know a lot about Brazil right?

    Regards

    Alexandre

  • Hi Alexandre,

A few years ago, I spent the US Thanksgiving holiday in/on Ilhabela, so your query brings back fond memories, especially now.  It's been a while since I have visited Brazil, but I hope to do so again soon.  Glad to hear that you have the setup working!
