AFE5832EVM: I tested afe5832evm, but the quality of the results was not good

Part Number: AFE5832EVM

I am testing afe5832evm with TSW1400 and HSDC PRO 4.7.

However, I had some question during test.

-1. I connected the hardware as shown in the attached figure and input 5v power.

-2. I wrote afe5832evm firmware after running hdsc pro.

-3. The afe5832evm gui is run automatically,

4.I provide a 5MHz  20mV sine  input

5 I use the 125MHz clock on board according to the user manual

6. I press DUT RESET and initialize device.

7. I changed fsamp to 40mhz and clicked the ramp test pattern.

8. I went back to hsdc pro and clicked the capture button.

Its results are as follows

What's wrong with my testing process? It was simply a test for confirming the test pattern.

How do i set up to get the right result?

  • PS I use the on-board clock and 125MHz configuration. The user guide is 160MHz 13dbm clock. Is the problem here?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for using AFE5832EVM.

We will reply to your question very soon.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

From the captured graph, looks like your input signal freq = 40MHz (sinewave, right?)

and clock freq = 125MHz, because on the left-hand lower corner screen,

it shows ADC Output Data Rate (set as = 20MHz) so please change it as = 125MHz

and also ADC Input Target Frequency (set as = 5.000 MHz) so please change it as = 40MHz.

Also we can see the noise floor is too high,

that could be due to the input signal cable and input signal connector

maybe too loose. Could you please re-connect all the cables

to make sure they all are connected firmly?

    Hope these can help.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Chen
