ADC121C021: Datasheet Clarification - Power Supply noise

Part Number: ADC121C021

Team,

Page 5:

 See note (1) below:

 Our engineer is trying to analyze filter (L-C) for the power supply (VA), and does not know how to define “pass/fail” criteria. As There is no power supply that is “free of noise”, How would a user defined “well bypassed”? can we provide a general quantitative guideline for this spec?

  • Hello,

    This usually is indicating that correct bypass capacitors are used and placed close to the device.

    In this case, the datasheet states that VA should have a 0.1uF and a 4.7uF bypass capacitors

    If you are looking for a quantitative value for noise, I would suggest limiting to the noise to less than a LSB of your system.

    This is based on the full scale range you are using.

    LSB = FSR/2^12

    Regards

    Cynthia
