Hi,

greeting.

I have a small inquiry in the datasheet.

you can find Idd (power-supply current) is 5~20uA@ 3V and 5V in Page4,

however you can find supply current is up to hundreds of uAs in Figure16 of Page10.
are they the same parameters?
could you please explain why the supply currents are different?
Why the supply current is up to hundreds of uAs.

    Hi Mark,

    Both are different parameters. 

    The digital input stages always draw supply current whenever the digital input voltage is not at one of the supply rails, that means for example if you are operating with supply as 5V and digital levels are at 3.3V, its going to take current from the supply lines. What does this means is that if you are operating device at say 5V and logic levels are at 0 and 3.3V, there will be lot of power dissipation in the device when slow transition from 0 to 3.3V occurs.

    Driving the digital input signals from GND to VCC with a fast transition time minimizes power dissipation.
