ADS122U04: validating the ADC functionality of ADS122U04

Part Number: ADS122U04

hi,

ADS122U04 device is used in my project, my task to validate the ADS122U04 device ADC functionality , from the device data sheet I had got some points to validate ADC functionality.

please find the below table which gives the output code for corresponding given voltage inputs:

queries:

whether the given table is for digital outputs given after ADC conversion?

As I am providing the inputs from function generator, what should be the valid Analog inputs given to validate these digital output ?

Thanks,

Maniram

  • Hi Maniram,

The digital output code relates to formula 8 on page 35 just above the table 14 you referenced from the ADS122U04 datasheet.  One count or code relates to the smallest measurable unit for the reference voltage used and any gain that is applied.  The full-scale range (FSR) is the measurement range of the ADC and is 2*Vref/Gain.

The digital output code of the ADS122U04 is in binary two's complement where positive full-scale has a code of 0x7FFFFF and negative full-scale of 0x800000.

The output of the function generator must be within the measurement range of the ADS122U04 and also within the input range.  The input range is shown in the table in section 6.3 on page 4 of the datasheet.

If a function generator is used then the output of any waveform must be in a measurable frequency range for the data rate being used by the ADS122U04.

    Best regards,
