ADS1246: PSPICE model

Part Number: ADS1246
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA333, TIPD120

Hi Team,

My customer would like to use ADS1246 pspice model to run simulation, for the purpose of getting more accuracy result my customer would like to know whether the model build in the input noise in the properties? Customer would like to simulate out the ENOB with other peripheral circuit. Please kindly give me your comment.

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Vincent,

I am not aware of a pspice model for the ADS1246.  In fact I am not aware of any model for TI precision delta-sigma ADCs.  There was a simulation done within TIPD120 that used a macro model to simulate the response of the ADC up to the ADC inputs.  I believe the model was based on the OPA333, but this does not include the ADC and digital filter portion.  So if this model is the one being used, then it will only include the noise of the PGA.

I would suggest that the customer use the noise tables in the datasheet as the best case scenario.  In other words, this is the best the converter can possibly achieve where the noise is the lowest using shorted inputs.  Additional noise from the reference or input path will add noise to the conversion result.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Bob,

I really appreciate for your comment. I will forward your suggestion to customer and discuss with customer if they have any further questions.

    Thanks a lot.
