ADS1118-Q1: 5V supply voltage

Part Number: ADS1118-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1118

Hi Team,

My customer now use ADS1118. During the sampling, the sample value sometimes will drop to 0.

The supply voltage is 5V, the reference is 4.096V. The input is single external input. the input range is 0-2.5V.

May I ask whether it is ok to use 5V as supply voltage? I found that the supply is 2-5.5V.

If the supply voltage is 5V, does it have risk?

  • Amelie,

There should be no problems using the device with a supply of 5V and with any FSR setting. As you mentioned, the supply operation should be from 2V to 5.5V.

Is your customer having problems with reading the device? Are they reading 0V out of the device when they should be getting data? What mode of data retrieval are they using?

  • Amelie,

I haven't heard from you for a while, so I thought I'd check to see if your customer has solved the readout problem. As I mentioned in my previous post, a 5V supply is in the normal operating range, but I also wanted to check on the reads of 0V. I just wanted to make sure it was resolved.

I'll close this post for now, but if you if your customer continues to have problems, post back and we can continue to work on this.
