ADS131M06: Reference Input Voltage (REFIN)

Part Number: ADS131M06
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS131M08

Hi Team,

There seems to be errors in the datasheet of the new devices, ADS131M06 and ADS131M08, regarding the maximum reference input voltage (REFIN). According to Section 6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings, the maximum reference input voltage (REFIN) is AVDD+0.3, but in Section 6.3 Recommended Operating Conditions the maximum reference input voltage REFIN is 1.3V. Please confirm which one is correct and can we update the datasheet to avoid confusion.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Danilo,

The tables for Absolute Maximum Ratings and Recommended Operating Conditions show two different things.

The Absolute Maximum Ratings are used to show the limit to where the device may be damaged if the ratings are exceeded. For example, if REFIN exceeds AVDD+0.3V, then you may physically damage the device.

The Recommended Operating Conditions, show limits to where you would expect normal operation of the device. This will show the operation where the electrical characteristics table will still hold their values. Running the device beyond the Recommended Operating Conditions may not give correct values, but it will not damage the device unless the Absolute Maximum Ratings are exceeded.
