TLA2024: Does TI component meet Underwriters Laboratory (UL) standards?

Part Number: TLA2024
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1300

Hello:

We are using many types TI components in our new product. We plan to get Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approval from North America market.

I notice normally in TI component spec marked ROHS which mostly related to hazardous materials, how could I know for example this AD converter passed UL approval or not?

Thanks for your support in advanced!

Br. Li

  • Li,

Often, we'll place any information about certification (UL, TUV, etc.) under Technical Documentation in the product folder in www.ti.com. However, the TLA2024 folder does not have any UL certification shown in that location.

Most of our data converter devices do not go through UL certification and I don't believe that the TLA2024 has any UL certification. I've looked through our internal files and did not find any UL certification. Also the TLA2024 was not planned for UL certification from our product safety documentation.

Incidentally, what sort of UL certification was your customer looking for? There are many different UL standards for different applications.

  • Hello Joseph:

    Thanks for your reply!

I haven't yet get clearly UL requirement from customer. If customer need not only bared PCB also final assembly PCB UL approval, normally what most common UL Certificate required for component level?

  • Li,

I'm sorry, but I just don't know enough about UL certification to comment on what might be required. There are over a thousand UL standards over a wide variety of products, and I haven't been close to any that required certification. The only example of a certified device that I know are the isolated amplifier products (AMC devices). For info, you can see this UL certificate in the AMC1300 product folder under technical documentation:

    https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/szzq154

I don't know of any specific certification that would be applicable for the TLA2024. I'll close this post for now, but if your customer has specific questions about the device or UL certification, post back or start a new thread.
