ADS127L01: Performance at Fclk?

Part Number: ADS127L01

We wish to sample a signal centred at ~16MHz (i.e. near Fclk).

Refer figure 76. "Extended Frequency Response of Wideband 1 Filter (OSR 32)" in the datasheet (SBAS607B –SEP 2016).

Is the performance of the ADS127L01 characterised at Fclk, 2Fclk, etc?

If not, what performance can we expect?

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

The performance of the ADS127L01 is not characterized beyond the maximum Nyquist frequency of 256 kHz (data rate = 512 kHz).

However, we do test the stability of the delta-sigma modulators with out-of-band input frequencies. As with all higher-order delta-sigma modulators, the ADS127L01 modulator can saturate if the out-of-band signal is above a certain amplitude relative to the ADC reference voltage. We've provided some loose guidelines in Table 31 in section 9.1.4 that suggest restricting the amplitude of out-of-band signals for various input frequencies and modulator sampling rates. In general, a properly designed antialiasing filter is required for the input signal chain.

    Best regards,
