ADS5402EVM: Maximum current requirements?

Part Number: ADS5402EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5402, , DAC3484, CDCE62005

Hello,

My research group has an ADS5402EVM module that we are using for a testbench, and up to this point we have been using a shared (somewhat overpowered) PSU to power the data converters. We are considering purchasing a dedicated power supply for the project, so I’ve been searching for power consumption specifications for the data converter modules. Unfortunately, while the ADS5402 datasheets provide current requirement information, I’ve been unable to find anything for the ADS5402EVM’s requirements. If TI could provide specs for the ADS5402EVM input current requirement, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Hi Randall,

This is also a similar answer as the DAC3484. The ADS5402 has various modes of settings and it is difficult to have one generic power consumption to cover all usage. We typically uses 5A rating power bricks (available at Digikey) to power the whole EVM. I believe the ADS5402 has lower power consumption in general, and also, it does not have additional clocking chips (i.e. CDCE62005) as the DAC3484. Therefore, the general power consumption curve in the ADS5402 datasheet should be the general power consumption for the power supply solution that you can consider.

  • Hi Kang,

It seems that like that's the information I was looking for.

    Thanks!
