ADS8519: Power up sequence

Part Number: ADS8519

Hi team,

My customer is considering to use the ADS8519. Could you support the following question from the customer?

ADS8519 has 5V analog power supply(VANA), power supply for I/O(VDIG),  and Vref. Are there power up sequence among them?

Regards,

Yamaguchi

  • Hi Yamaguchi,

There is no specific sequencing required for the power supplies on this device. However, there are Absolute Maximum Ratings required for analog inputs and digital inputs, so it's a good practice to make sure VDIG is powered up before the digital inputs are available and VANA is powered up before the analog input are available.

ADS8519 has switched-capacitor input structure and the input impedance is not high, so it's critical to design a proper driving circuit including amplifier to drive this ADC.

However, ADS8681 is 16-bit, 1Msps single channel SAR ADC with programmable input ranges(+/-12V,+/-10V,+/-6V,+/-5V,+/-2.5V) on a single +5V supply, it has an integrated analog front-end (AFE) including PGA and ADC driver, so the requirement of designing an external driving amplifier circuit can be eliminated in most applications, also a precision voltage reference is integrated. A pin-pin compatible 18-bit ADC ADS8691 is available as well.

    Regards,

    Dale
