ADS1263: ADS1263

Part Number: ADS1263
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1261EVM

Hello Guys,

I took a task to design a system to detect 0-1.11mv voltage with resolution of 78nV.

From my side, I plan to adopt ADS1263 to handle it; but I am not sure the chip can fullfil the requirement.

I know to identify 78nV voltage is a challenge for amplifier and power supply , because the system noise and drift can mask it easily.

Could your please give me suggestion or recommend which amplifier or ADC to implement it is better?

Thanks and Best Regards,

John

  • Hi ,

I apologized for late response. Your signal is really small and your requirement is a really challenge. I do not know how many channels you need, also what data rate you want, however the higher data rate, the higher noise on the ADC.I would suggest you to use the PGA on the ADC and test with TI EVM board, ADS1263EVM with gain=32 or ADS1261EVM with gain=128, the data rate should be limited to less than 10sps. Also, the calibration may be needed to minimize the error from the ADC.

    Best regards,

    Dale

  • Dear Dale,

    Thanks for your response!

Absolutly I know this is a big challenge for the project development, and this is also the reason why I consulted it with TI team here, because I am not confident that I could achieve it!

For us, the data rate is not a problem, even less than 1 sps is acceptable. I only need 1 channel.

Except for above recommendation (ADS1263EVM and ADS1261EVM ), is there other optional solution?

    Have a nice day!

    Best Regards,

    John

  • Hi John,

These are the best and high resolution ADCs.I suggest you evaluate them on the EVM with your sensor at low data rate. Calibration and ratiometric measurement can be used to reduce the error if possible.

    Best regards,

    Dale

  • Dear Dale,

OK! I will try it firstly as you suggested.

    Thanks again!

    Best Regards,

    John
