Did you install on a 32-bit or 64-bit system? I successfully installed on a 32-bit windows 10 system with no issues. Are you able to retry a new clean installation on your system?

It was a 64-bit Windows 10 machine.

That likely is the problem. Can you install on a 32-bit system and retest?

I just tested it on my Win10-64 machine with no issues.  When you re-run the installer, what do you see for the following menu?

I suspect that the LabVIEW runtime engine or VISA engine is not installed correctly.

Hi David, I specifically would like to see that the installer shows.  I suspect the VISA runtime engine is not installed.

For the MSP430 or the DAC121S101?

The installer for the DAC121S101 EVM software installs some National Instruments support libraries.  That could potentially be causing the problem.

It says it installs just fine no error messages. 

Okay, I assume you have already rebooted the PC and installed the software as an administrator - correct?

Please try installing the latest NI-VISA software directly from NI.

When I click on download this is what I get.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I tried three different browsers all the same answer. Why is software more complicated then hardware?

Hmmm... something must be going on with National Instrument's website.  I am seeing the same error.

Download and install the software for this other EVM.  You don't need to use this software, but the support libraries should be slightly updated as it was compiled later.  

Also, note that this device has a very simple SPI interface an only uses one register.  You can likely begin the evaluation with any data generated that supports SPI if the software is not worth the trouble.  That being said, I had no issues with the software on my personal Windows 10 machine, so it must be some issue with the PC and the installer.

I understand the frustration with software.  I feel like a large portion of my job is I.T. support rather than engineering sometimes :)

Downloaded and installed fine. But I get the same error as before.

I have looked into this and I think it is an issue with the Microsoft .NET framework.

Could you verify the version installed on your machine? This would likely be dictated by the IT department, so it is not surprising if all the machines have the same .NETs installed.

The knowledge base article specifically recommends .NET 2.0 and 3.5.
