Hi Chundra,
The Analog input bandwidth of ADC12DJ3200 is about 8GHz. I don't think you will be able to directly sample 40GHz signal with it.

Thank you for the prompt reply. So if I am correct, even your fastest ADC cannot allow undersampling of a modulated carrier at 40GHz? The idea is to avoid the use of a mixer.
I guess the input signal is way too fast for the ADC to "see", correct?

Hi Chundra,
If you use a track-n-hold (T/H) in front of the 3200 ADC, that would get you to 18-20GHz analog BW. Hittite and Inphi would be my suggest if you go this route.
Otherwise, you might try looking at the Jariet Technologies ADC if you need something now w/ 40GHz BW.

Would there be any design example for the 18-20GHz option you said is possible using the 3200 device?
