DAC61416: Spec and power iC suggestion

Part Number: DAC61416

Hi team,

I have some questions about DAC61416 and need your suggestion.

1. We see the DAC61416 has high drive capability : +/-25mA. Could you let me know if this spec is 25mA/per ch or 25mA/16ch? If the spec is 25mA/ch, does it mean that max output current will be 25mA*16=400mA?

2. How could we estimate the VCC, VSS power rating?

3. If my application is +/-20V, we need >=+/-20V power IC to provide Vcc and Vss voltage, do we have corresponding part could match the DAC61416? (Vin=5V)

Regards,

Roy

  • Hi,

    1. Current drive capability is 25mA/Channel.

    2. Do you plan to drive DAC outputs with 25mA load? If yes, you need to calculate power supply requirements accordingly.

First of all you should have minimum headroom and footroom voltage of 1.5V from both power supplies VCC and VSS, Say if you want +/-20V, your supply voltages has to be min +/-21.5V with at least 425mA (load current +  Supply current) Current capability ( 16*25mA +  25mA )

    3. With Vin  = 5V, you need to have boost DC DC converter to achieve these power supplies. You can look into out power portfolio which contains wide selection of boost converters which will meet these specifications. You can post your requirements in  DC DC converters forum to get help in designing them.

  • Hi AK,

    1. Thank you for your comments.

    2. Understand, so customer should know their drive current, is it right?

    3. Thank you for your comments.

  • Hi,

Customer should know their drive current , accordingly design the power supply.
