AMC1303M2520: Accuracy limits for 12 bit resolution (DNL, INL)

Part Number: AMC1303M2520
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28377D

Team,

In a design an AMC1303M2520 is being used together with TMS320F28377D sigma-delta filter module. The SDFM settings are such that the resolution is 12 bit. Can DC Accuracy limits be made available for this resolution? The datasheet specifies DNL, INL for 16 bit resolution.

  • Hi Micheal,

This could potentially depend on the filter setup. A higher filter order with a lower OSR could have the same resolution as a lower filter order with a higher OSR, but the total output will not necessarily be identical. All of the specifications in the datasheet are in reference to an OSR of 256 with a sinc3 filter, and we don't have any specific data to share with other filter orders or OSR settings.

The actual performance of the AMC1303 when operating at a high or low OSR will always be the same, since the bitstream does not change based on the filter you choose. The DNL and INL numbers should be quite similar at a lower resolution. At 16 bits, the 4 LSBs will be quite noisy anyway, and the result of a 12 bit output will be quite similar to truncating a 16 bit output.

    Regards,
