TLA2022: Address Problem

Part Number: TLA2022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1014, ADS1119, PCA9548A

Hello,
we want to build a measuring array with many sensors in one system (about 25 pieces). The device is almost perfect for our application as it contains a differential input and a PGA. Unfortunately this ADC only offers the possibility to address three different slave addresses. Are there other similarly cheap ADCs with larger address space?
Is it possible to customize the device?
The annual number of units will be about 5 million.

  • Hallo Herr Pieper,

schön aus der alten Heimat zu hören.

The ADS1014 is very similar to the TLA2022. It offers at least 4 instead of 3 different I2C address possibilities.
The ADS1119 and ADS111C04 are slightly higher-end ADCs which would offer 16 different I2C addresses. Unfortunately we don't have 12-bit versions of those two ADCs available.

Would you require an AEC-Q100 qualified ADC for your project?

If you want to discuss the customization in more detail I suggest to discuss this outside this forum. I can contact you using your email address provided in your MyTI account if that is alright. Please let me know.

    Regards,

  • Reinhold,

If you want, you can respond Joachim's request to contact you about other possibilities. Juist post back to confirm.

However, one suggestion would be to use an I2C multiplexer/switch to expand the bus to multiple I2C buses to resolve the address conflicts. You could use something like the PCA9548A:

With this method, I think you could just put 3 TLA2022 on each I2C channel, which would make 24 devices.
