ADS1283: Thermal PAD does not need to tie to GND, does it?

Normally thermal pad need to be tied to gourd planes for heat dissipation and perfomance. But in the datasheet said that 'Don't electrically connect the thermal pad'. So we just leave the pin float and tied to a thermal plane, which is not connected to GND or power. Is that correct?
