DAC38J84EVM: The DAC3XJ8X GUI was not programmed correctly with DAC38J84EVM.

I purchased DAC38J84EVM and connected it to the VC707.First, I downloaded the configured JESD204 to VC707.In accordance with the requirements in the manual, I programmed DAC38J84 and LMK04828 using the DAC3XJ8X GUI.After that, I read all the registers in the low level view, and I found that they were all 0xFF or 0xFFFF.Furthermore, in VC707, I found that DAC38J84 did not generate the corresponding clock signal and sysref signal.Therefore, DAC38J84EVM and VC707 did not achieve a successful connection.

I don't know why DAC38J84EVM was not successfully configured, so I come here to ask for your help.Below are some screenshots of the configuration process for your reference:

After programming LMK and DAC, and reading all registers, they become FF and FFFF.

note：I can't change all the checkboxes and modifiable items in the GUI. All the parameters become maximum after I change them.For example, I changed the LMF to 442 and they became the values shown below:

Hi,

Could you please disconnect from the VC707 and retry reading back the registers of the DAC38j84? This is to avoid bus contentions potentially present on the VC707.

I have disconnected all the other connections and only connected the DAC to the computer, but these problems still occur.

Hi,

do you have access to Altera byteblaster? If so, we can send over the CPLD file so you can program the CPLD. It is possible that the CPLD was not programmed.

otherwise we need to get you an replacement.

sorry,

I don't know which steps to follow to download the file you sent to DAC38J84. I directly programmed the POF file into EVM with Quartus, but failed. Do I need to change some of the jumpers on the EVM to configure it in JTAG mode? What steps should I follow to download the Pof file into the EVM?

Hi,

I tried the method you offered, but I'm sorry I didn't succeed. So here's how I did it, and hopefully you can see the problem. If there are no problems, the best thing to do might be to have an replacement.

First, I use Quartus18 to open the DAC38J84EVM_CPLD.qar file.After opening, the display interface is as follows:

Then I select the OK button to open Restore Archived Project.

I just select OK to go to the next step.

I did the following to open the programmer.

After I open the programmer, I connect the EVM.

Finally, According to the content provided in the PPT, I selected the corresponding option and then downloaded it through the Start button. Unfortunately, it did not download successfully.

That's how I downloaded the program to the EVM in detail. I don't know if I made any potential mistakes in the above steps. If there are any mistakes, I hope you can point out my mistakes carefully. I shall be grateful for your help.

I re-used Quartus13 software and installed MAX V device library, but the POF file still could not be downloaded to EVM, and the software reported the following error:

Make sure you have 3.3V at JP6 pin 2 and 1.8V at JP5 pin 2. Both jumpers should have a shunt connected across pins 1-2. If these supplies are present and you are still having issues, I would suggest you request a replacement board.

If you bought this from a distributor, you will have to work with them to get a replacement. If you bought it from the TI Store, the following link has the details and a link to the form to start the return process. Once you are on the returns and refunds page of the TI Store look for the hyperlink which says: TI store customer support form.
