ADS8900B: Capacitor selection

Part Number: ADS8900B

Hi Team,
The datasheet of ADS8900B suggests using a 1uF, X7R grade capacitor with a 10V rating at its DACAP pin
What change does it use a X7R grade 16V rating capacitor instead of 10V?
Also, how the case style of the capacitor affects the performance?.

  • Hello Shibin,

There is no issue using a higher voltage rated capacitor such as a 16V or 25V rated part.  It is important to use a ceramic capacitor that meets the desired temperature range (X7R, -55C to 125C) with low ESR.  SMT package should be used for best performance and smallest size.  Standard 0402, 0603 or 0805 will work well.

  • Hello Keith,
    Thank you for your reply.

I've read an article related to this.
This article says larger the case style is lesser will be the change in capacitance.
