SM73201: RD-195

Part Number: SM73201

Hi! I was looking for more information on the RD-195. I watched the training video about Arc Detection: https://training.ti.com/rd-195-arc-detect-reference-solution, and was interested in understanding how to obtain the graph that is shown ("The Spectrum of Arcing System vs. Non-Arcing System") when using the device in my own arc testing set-up.

Furthermore, I wanted to buy this product but am unable to find it anywhere, and am looking for suggestions as to any TI products that complete the same goal.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

While the SM73201 is still an active product and will remain so, the RD-195 reference design was no longer manufacturable as of a few years ago so it was taken from the web.  Furthermore, most of the expertise on the arc-detection information are no longer available but the graph you're referring to is a power vs. frequency graph which indicates an FFT was performed on the incoming ADC data which produced the different energy content during an arcing vs. non-arcing condition.  The arc case looks to inject a lot of broad energy content in the 20-80kHz range.
