ADS8681EVM-PDK: this ADC and DAC Module (BP-DAC11001EVM) interface with TMDSLCDK6748 DSP Kit to acquire at 50ksps or higher

Part Number: ADS8681EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSLCDK6748, TMS320C6748, ADS8681, BP-DAC11001EVM

I have sensor signal (Acceleration) in analog domain and want to implement a digital filter using DSP kit (selected TMDSLCDK6748) and generate the Analog Output. The required sampling frequency is minimum 50ksps and Input & Output voltage range (-10v to +10v).So my queries are

1.To acquire +10V to -10V range analog signal i  selected ADS8681EVM-PDK kit. So is this kit can be configureble with TMDSLCDK6748  and can acquire the data for my requirement?if not can you suggest other module/other possibility?

2.Similarly for output(in Analog) i selected BP-DAC11001EVM, is it ok? if not suggestuons please.

Thank you in advance,Hope i will get the solution at the earliest

  • Hi CHINTHADA,

ADS8681 supports a standard SPI interface and TMS320C6748 has two SPI interfaces, thus there is no problem to use TMS320C6748 DSP as a controller to interface with ADS8681 ADC, however the ADS8681EVM does not have test points on the SPI digital bus, the only connector for the SPI signals on the EVM is QTH-030-01-L-D-A which is very compact, you have to design an adapter to connect the ADS8681EVM and the TMDSLCDK6748 if you really want to use both EVM and DSP kit instead of designing your own circuit board. Also, I do not know what your signal frequency from the sensor is, please note that the bandwidth of internal LPF filter on the ADS8681 is 15kHz, your signal frequency should be less than this frequency.

Regarding BP-DAC11001EVM, we have experts from DAC team to support the DACs, you may post a new query specifically for the question about the DAC in your design.

    Thanks&regards,

    Dale
