ADS1235EVM: External Digital connection to ADS1235EVM

Part Number: ADS1235EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1235,

Greetings All,

I want to connect ADS1235EVM to STM32 using J6 connections available on the board. I want to power the board through usb and connect digital interface with ADS1235 with STM32 micro-controller. Help me ...

Thanks.

  • Hi Nimit,

On the ADS1235EVM solder a jumper wire or install a 2 pin header at JP1 on the right-hand side of the EVM just above the USB connector.  When this jumper is installed, the micro will be held in a reset state and the level shifters used will be disabled.

On J6 connect the control and communication signals from the STM32 to labeled positions on the connector.  The required connections are:

    • SCLK
    • CS
    • DIN
    • DOUT/DRDY

Additional connections useful but not required are:

    • START used to control start of conversions (tied high via pullup on EVM)
    • PDWN used to set the powered down state (tied high via pullup on EVM)
    • RESET used to reset the device (tied high via pullup on EVM)
    • DRDY used to monitor end of conversions

Make sure that the ground connections are made between the boards.  Plug in the USB cable to power the EVM.  Refer to the schematics in the ADS1235EVM user's guide and the ADS1235 datasheet for timing requirements.

    Best regards,

    Bob B

  • Thanks... I made small mistake here by not shorting JP1..

I will take it and have a look at it.
