ADC12D1600: DES mode clarification

Hello Team,

On the ADC12D1600, my customer notice that in DES mode, both edges of the input clock are used, and it also appears that to collect the data, both edges of the output clock must also be used. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct, in section 7.4.1 DES/Non-DES Mode, this is described.

Hello Rob,

Thank you for this response. Is there an equivalent mode that is single clock edge, whereby the data comes in Demux mode, and all four inputs are demuxed out the data port (both I and Q)? My customer just want to know if their is a way they can do the same thing but with a single clock edge.

Hi Renan,

I did some checking and the output data muxing modes are independent from the input sampling mode, but only DDR output clocking is available in the ADC12D1000/1600/1800 devices. The ‘RF suffix parts do provide SDR output clocking in the output demux modes. This was added to reduce Fs/2 spurs caused by output clock energy coupling. If they need SDR output data clocking they should upgrade to the ADC12D1600RF.

They are also pin compatible.

Hello Rob,

My Customer inquiry deals with Figure 3, page 28 of the datasheet for the ADC12D1600. It shows clocking in 1:4 Demux DES mode. They want to know if clocking in 1:4 demux (NON-DES) mode is identical but at 1/2 the rate shown in figure 3.

Hi Renan,

For the ADC12D1600, unfortunately 1/2 the rate shown in Figure 3 this is not an option in 1:4 demux/NonDES mode.

For the ADC12D1600RF, 1/2 the rate shown in Figure 4-3 this is an option option in 1:4 demux/NonDES mode.
