ADC12DJ5200RF: Classification of ADCs and Delta-Sigma Modulators regarding synchronous sampling

Part Number: ADC12DJ5200RF
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC12DJ3200QML-SP, AMC1336-Q1, TLV2544Q, THS1408-EP, ADC10040

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to confirm these several TI parts for their application.

They want to calculate the instantaneous power of various RF analog signals (f up to 100 MHz). They are needing sampling rates of min. 200 MSPS to fulfill the job.

They have prepared a selection of chips, that are meeting their requirements regarding the target application. What they are looking for is a classification in synchronously (single channel with multichip realisation or multi-channel devices) and not synchronously sampling devices.

Would you please confirm their own classification regarding synchronization and correct if they are wrong?

Synchronous sampling:
- ADC12DJ5200RF
- ADC12DJ3200QML-SP
- AMC1336-Q1 (only up to 21 MHz)
- AMC1304x-Q1 (only up to 20 MHz)
- AMC1303x (only up to 21 MHz)

No synchronous sampling possible:
- TLV2544Q
- THS1408-EP
- ADC10040

Please let me know if this needs to be separated to another thread per device.

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

The 5200RF and 3200 ADCs seem a bit overkill for sampling rates of 200MSPS. Is there a max sampling rate that the customer needs to satisfy as well?

Any other requirements? JESD, parallel interface? number of channels/ADCs, etc.

    Regards,

    Rob
