Hi,

I am having plan to use the ADS8548 for space application. This component is on the list of the space and defense datasheet of the TI document that it is attached."slyc143e.pdf".

In the ADS85x8 datasheet has application notice but nothing mentioned about the space qualified part. I am confused so is it qualified or not?

Our requirement is to have the RAD Tolerant/Hard components in the design!

Could you please provide the document for this component if it is RAD qualified part?

By the way, I am looking for 8 CHs ADC with 500KSPS minimum for every single channel while all in used. RAD hard or RAD Tolerant is required.

If any ADC part using MUX in front, then MUX frequency speed must be higher than 4GHz to cover the speed of the sampling for switching between the channels.

Hello Ashkan,

The document you are referring to highlights parts that we have seen success within the space/defense industry, as well as devices that are space grade; but note that not all the devices listed are -EP or -SP grade devices.

The ADS8548 is only available in a catalog version. If a search for ADCs rated for high temp, space, or space enhanced, there are 10 results. I suggest taking a look at these devices.

I suggest first looking at the ADC128S102-SP

ADC128S102-SP has 8 channel and KSPS is good for our application.

Here is the question: I want to run all channel simultaneously at 500KSPS . That part has multiplexer in front and service each channel in queue mode.

Is it possible to run all channels simultaneously with that sampling rate?

Unfortunately no, this device cannot support simulations sampling.

As you noted, this is a mux device, and can only sample one input at a time.

There is a great document that explains phase and phase compensation for muxed devices, perhaps the customer is interested in applying this algorithm to compensate for the phase delay of muxed devices.

Cynthia,

Do TI has any components with multiple channel ADCs , RAD Cert , 500KSPS sampling for simultaneously channel sampling?

I can see single channel but I am looking for 8 preferably and 4 channels at lowest.

Also is there any information for Radiation level or some tests done for ADS8548 that we can have those documents?

Any documentations or extra paperwork regarding radiation test will be helpful and usable!

Also if TI can provide useful document with some cost or test for us, we are able to make the agreement depends on lead time and cost.

Unfortunately, we do not have a device that meets all those requirements. The ADS1278-SP is simultaneous 8 channel, but can only go up to 128kSPS. and the previously mentioned ADC128S102-SP which is 8 channel muxed, but can support 500kSPS.

The ADS8548 is a catalog device, which means there have been no rad hard testing done on it. I have reached out to my team member who has a deeper insight on the tests and cost for space enhanced devices, he will be back in office later this week.
