ADS8166: Power supply noise tolerance.

Guru 10385 points
Part Number: ADS8166

Hi team,

Could you tell me about the allowable noise value for the power supply voltage?
Is there a SPEC like PSRR?

Sincerely.
Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

We do not normally specify a 'PSRR' for an ADC.  I am not certain if we have any data, but I will take a look and see what I can dig up, if any.

Please give me until Friday to reply back to this post.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Kengo,

Unfortunately, we do not have this data.  As always, we recommend good power supply bypass capacitors to reduce noise, and it is preferable to operate the AVDD supply from an LDO, which provides lower noise than a switching power supply.

The evaluation board uses a low noise LDO supplied by a switching power supply.   The LDO rejects most of the switching regulator noise, allowing the ADS8166 to get datasheet noise performance.

    Regards,
    Keith
