ADS1015: Some questions for ADS1015

Part Number: ADS1015

Hi expert,

Please share some comments for below customer questions.

1. if under mode continuous-conversion IC is not entering power-down mode, is that correct?

2. If we set Mode into continuous-conversion, and re-write value to MUX[2:0], then waiting for how long to read back the value, would be the good time to read back conversion result for the new MUX setting?

3. If customer require to read value from Ch1~ CH4, is the mode suggested to be set into continuous -conversion?

4. If the application is single ADS1015, Can we keep Config Register[4:0] as default?

  • Hi Oliver,

    1. That's correct. In continuous conversion mode, the part does not power down between conversions.

    2. When the register write is complete, the current conversion will be done with the previous register settings. You will have to wait for the next conversion (one that has started after the register write completed) for the new configuration to be applied.

    3. Is the customer intending to read a single conversion from each of the channels in sequence? (Ch1, Ch2, Ch3, Ch4, then Ch1, Ch2....). If that is the case, using the single shot conversion mode would be a simpler choice. You can select which channel to read then fire the single conversion and repeat to move on to the next channel. That way there is no possibility of accidentally attributing one conversion to the incorrect channel.

4.The Config Register [4:0] settings depend on how you intend to use the comparator functionality. If you don't intend to use the comparator or the ALERT/RDY pin, the default settings will disable it, and you can leave it that way.

    Regards,
