ADS42LB49: Power down on channel B and power consumption when using one channel

Hello,

I am using channel A with sampling rate of 200 MHz and in DDR mode, I want to power down channel B since I am not using it and noticed the following in the datasheet:

Does this mean I cannot power down channel B when using DDR on channel A?

What is the expected power consumption when one channel disabled, figure 65 suggests the total power of about 1.43 Watt at 200 MHz, should I expect half of it when one channel disabled?

Mahmoud,

Using QDR mode @ 250MHz, with both channels on, the current draw is 610mA. With only one channel on, the draw was 363mA.

This was measured at the power supply connected to the TI EVM. This is not the total power used by the device as there is a translator and LDO device on this board.

CHB cannot be turned off in DDR mode by design.

Mahmoud,

Yes, you can power down CHA in DDR mode. You can power down both CHA and CHB in this mode but not CHB by itself.
