DAC3484: configuration setting problem

Part Number: DAC3484
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3482

Hi,

I am testing the DAC3484 and followed power up sequence. I am programming the  DAC through TI GUI.  I am using the  single sync mode and only using SYNC signal as data formatter and syncing source for FIFO input, output and clock divider synchronization. Besides we are using PLL by pass mode and not enable mixer, offset, QMC and NCO. I selected the quad  channel and disabled all the DAC sleep. Without enabling data transmission, I tested the output of the channel B and C  having a bias voltage, but channel A and D had nothing change. After I enabled the data transmission, I could see the waveform at channel B and C, and still nothing at channel A and D. I sent exactly the same data into 4 channels. and I also tried to switch quad mode to dual mode and enable outer DAC, channel B and C still having  waveform and nothing showed at channel A and D. So I wonder whether I missed any configuration setting?

Thank you!

  • Hi,

The only thing I see you need to do is to ensure that QDAC is selected as oppose to DDAC setting in the GUI. If it is DDAC, then the symptom that you have described above can happen

Also make sure DAC3484 GUI is selected, as oppose to DAC3482 device. Please also make sure you actually have the DAC3484 device. If you have DAC3482 device, then the above symptom will show up.

  • Thank your for your reply!  I did choose the  DAC3484 GUI, DAC3484 and also selected the QDAC. It didn't work. I tried to to enable the DAC B and C, the current will decrease, however there is no current change when I did same thing on channel A and D. Is it anything else I might miss?

  • Hi Yun,

You may try loading the configuration files for the DAC3484 as highlighted in the EVM user's guide. These are all validated configurations. You may then make adjustments one by one to fit into your configuration better.

    files are located:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\DAC348x\EVM Configuration File Released\DAC3484
