TPL0102-100: TPL0102-100PWR - OK to configure in series?

Part Number: TPL0102-100

Is it OK to configure this device in a "series" configuration by connecting the wiper of the "A" channel with the high side of the "B" channel? Something like this:

I wanted to make it a bit more configurable for the EVM I am making.

  • Hi Timothy,

This is fine to do. The datasheet even gives a small mention of it in the overview section (section 7.1):

"With one TPL0102, a variable resistor with 512 settings can be used since there are two potentiometers in one TPL0102. In order to achieve this, the two potentiometers should be in Rheostat Mode and wired so that terminal L of potentiometer B is tied to terminal W of potentiometer A. This will provide 512 settings between terminal L of potentiometer A and terminal W of potentiometer B"

This is basically what you have suggested, but you are leaving the low sides floating instead of the high sides which is not a problem. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
