AMC7812: GPIO voltage in relation to IOVDD

Part Number: AMC7812

I have question concerning notes 8 and 9 in the AMC7812 datasheet. Do these notes supersede the table entries? I intend to supply the device with AVDD = AVCC = DVDD = 5 V and IOVDD = 3.3 V. Can I pull up the GPIOs to 5 V?

  • Hi Frank,

These two notes do not supersede each other, as they address different pins.  If you have all the pull-ups connected to AVDD, and AVDD = 5.0V, then both line items are satisfied.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul

Thanks for the reply. My question is related to the table above. When IOVDD = 3.3 V, then - according to the table - the maximum GPIO voltage is 0.3 V + 3.3 V = 3.6 V. However, the notes imply that the pull-up voltage can be higher.

Can you confirm that the pull-up voltage at the GPIO pins can be 5 V although IOVDD is only 3.3 V.

    Kind regards

    Frank

  • Only GPIO0-3 can be pulled up to 5V.  GPIO4-7 is limited to 3.3V. So you cannot configure all of the GPIO pins to the use the same pullup unless you are connecting them to IOVDD.

    Thanks,

    Paul
