ADS1298--DRDY always high

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

Hello,

If I send the START OPCODE to the ADS1298 followed
by the RDATAC OPCODE, the DRDY pin toggles as expected. If I send the STOP
OPCODE to the ADS1298 the DRDY pin stops toggling. So all looks
fine. Now I want to read the converted data. I start conversion and now I can
read one or two data packages. After this, the DRDY stays high and there is no
possibility to leave this state. No reaction to the reset pin or the power down
pin. I cannot restart the conversion. But in this state I can read/write the registers
correct… Only a complete power reset (power switch off-on) can leave this
state.

If I use the start pin the communication works fine?

Is this a known problem?

  • Hi Uwe,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on your ADS1298 question.  How are you controlling the /CS input to the ADS1298?  Are you using the DRDY output as an interrupt to your host processor?  Can you also expand on your comment about the START pin? Are you asking us 'will using the start pin make everything work as expected' or telling us this is how you get everything to work?

  • Hi Stefan,

Did you get this problem resolved?

  • Hi Tom,

yes I solved the problem. I read the ads1298 over spi with dma. and i forgot to clear the writebuffer. so i sent the opcode and than random data from memory.

  • Hi, I am working with the Ads1298 Evaluation Board controlled using the MSP-EXP430F5438 Experimenter Board and the systems works fine.

Now I have tried to migrate from the MSP-EXP430F5438 Experimenter Board to MSP-EXP340FR5739 Experimenter Board.

Initially, all works fine, but after 5 or 6 seconds the DRDY signal stops generating interruptions and remains constrantly Hi.

Any suggestions about what maybe happening?

    Thanks in advance!
