Dac3484evm outputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3484EVM, DAC3484, DAC3482

HI at All,

I've the dac3484evm and I need to use it as a 4 independent channel. In particular, for my purposes is sufficient the baseband modulation of the dac. So, watching the top side of the dac3484evm I see the sma J7,J6,J3,J2 respectively for channel A,B,C,D. I suppose that to use it for what I need, I've to use those outputs. My evm doesn't have the sma J7 and J2.

Reading the TRF370315 datasheet, the minimum frequency of operation is 350 Mhz.

So my question is: can I use J20 and J21 through TRF370315 for channels A and D or do I need sma J7 and J2?

Thanks for any help.

Ciao

Simone

  • Hello Simone,

If the EVM is not populated with J7 and J2 (the outer two SMAs), then the EVM may be a DAC3482 EVM instead of the DAC3484 EVM. The DAC3482 is a two channel DAC with the two output routed to the inner row SMAs. Since the outer two channels are not routed to the DAC, the SMAs are not populated on the EVM.

Could you please check the symbol marking on the DAC device to check if it is a DAC3482 or DAC3484? The EVM should also have a check mark indicating if it is a DAC3482 or DAC3484 EVM. If you have received the wrong order, you may private message me or contact the customer service on your order slip so we can send you a replacement.

  • Hi Kang,

many thanks for your help.  The mark on the board is DAC3484evm Rev. D. So there's something wrong. I'll contact the vendor.

    Thank you very much.

    Ciao
