DAC7821/about output leakage current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC7821

Dear specialists,

My customer is considering using DAC7821 to next model.

Please let me ask a question about output leakage current.

If he uses the DAC7821 with a configuration  such as Figure 26
on the data sheet page 11,will the output leakage current(±20nA max)
of DAC7821 affect the output offset error voltage of Vout?

If so,how much impact is it?
If you have the calculation formula, could you please share it with me?

Best regards.

  • Hello Tokumoto-san,

The output leakage current will cause an offset error at the output.

You can consider the leakage current, current that does not flow through the RFB resistor. The DS specifies a typical value of 10 kΩ for RFB. This means that a leakage current of 20 nA will give you 0.2 mV offset. This ten times smaller than 1 LSB for VREF = 10 V. The impact is negligible.

    Equation: Vout_offset = RFB*Leakage_current

  • Hello Mejia_san,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply and detailed explanations.

    I understand it well.
