ADS1292 + Pace Maker Pulse Detection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292, TIPD111, ADS1294, ADS1298

Hello,

I am already using ADS1292 for products and I want to have additional functionality of PACE MAKER detection. Is there a possibility of doing it with small external circuit along with ADS1292 ?? Or is it only and only possible through software with 8KSPS sampling rate?

  • Hi Mihir,

I'm happy to hear that you are using the ADS1292! You can use the external hardware described in TIPD111 (details here: http://www.ti.com/tool/TIPD111 ) for pace detection.
  • Thanks for quick answer.

I have seen TIPD111, but it specifically mentions it is meant for ADS1294/96/98. And I am using ADS1292. So I wonder the connection from ADS1292 to TIPD111 would be possible or not. Can you pls. help me know exactly about how to connect TIPD111 with ADS1292 ?

    Regards,

    Mihir

  • Hi Mihir,

There are a few differences in the circuits between the ADS1292 and the ADS1294/96/98 with regards to PGA_OUT and PACE_OUT.  These can be seen in the functional block diagrams (figure 18 for the ADS1292 and section 9.2 for the ADS1298).  TIPD111 does not have the pace amplifier shown in the ADS1298 block diagram so you would have to accomodate that through the PGA_OUTs of the ADS1292, the rest of the circuit should remain the same.  The TIPD111 board has a 10-pin connector (J3) that plugs on to the ADS1298ECGFE-EVM at connector J5 (see http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbau171d/sbau171d.pdf page 57); you can review the schematics of the boards and see what you would need to do to accomodate hardware pace detection.
