ADC12J1600 - HSDC Pro reports at startup: Error -603 occurred at Read Registry Value STR.vi

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC12J1600Part Number: ADC12J1600

Application: Evaluation using ADC12J1600EVM and Xilinx KC705

Question type: Development and troubleshooting

Support topic: /Tools & software/Help me with an issue/Design Kits / Evaluation Modules / Boards/Software issue/

Description of the problem: When I start up HSDC Pro v4.31, it displays a dialog reporting "Error -603 occurred at Read Registry Value STR.vi". The dialog offers a "Continue" button. This occurs whether or not the workstation is connected to the evaluation card.

If I click Continue and proceed, I get another error later when I try and capture data: "Configure ADC/TIMED_OUT_ERROR/Time Out error". This may or may not be related to the first error.

I tried de-installing and re-installing HSDC Pro and the associated National Instruments software, as well as restarting the system. Same result.

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1 on an HP Z440 workstation. I checked and do have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 installed, I read something that suggested that was a dependency.

  • The "Error -603" problem appears to have been caused by an incompatibility between Tera Term and HSDC Pro.  Uninstalling Tera Term fixed that.

    I'm working on the "TIMED_OUT_ERROR" now.  I have a KC705 and an ADC12J1600EVM connected with a TSW14J10 interposer card.

The most explicit instructions I have are in slau560.pdf which leaves a number of things to the imagination.  It would help the first time user if section 3.12 contained at least one explicit sequence of operations that is known to produce good results.

  • Harold,

What mode will you be using the ADC12J1600 in? I ask since the KC705 only has 4 JESD lanes routed and will not work if you are planning on using 8 lanes. Please see the attached TSW14J10EVM User's Guide for more information regarding using Xilinx platforms with the TSW14J10EVM and TI JESD data converter EVM's.

    Regards,

    Jim
