adc34j22

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC34J22

I've designed and now I'm debugging DAQ with ADC34j22 (totally 4 ADCs chips=16 input channels) - I can work with normal mode LMFS=4421( 4 lines, 4 converters,2 octets/frames, 1 sample/frame)    and  all data are correct with 50 MHz.

But I cannot made that ADCs and my receivers working correctly for mode LMFS=2441 ( 2 lines, 4 convertes,4 octets/frame, 1 sample/frame).

I'm using instructions from datasheet for ADC34J2x(pages 53 and 58) : configure register (addr 2Bh) with 01h and register (addr 30h) with 11h   - results very strange... and with many effort no any positive results...

but I've found that on datasheet for ADC34J4x(pages 54 and 60)  wrote that for register (addr 30h)  should programmed 03h ?

And I've started to think that many those "11h" on datasheet ADC34j2x are really  means "11b"  . On table 33 of that register 30h description  those 11 not cleary described  (or it's 11h or  11b).

Some body really used those ADC on that mode 2441 ?   I strongly need to use that mode because my design was based on that mode -- now half of channel not available for measure...

  • Hi Nail
Most of the support team is out of office for the US Thanksgiving holiday. Someone will be able to respond to this early next week.
    Best regards,
    Jim B
  • Nail,

I have asked for clarification from the design team on this and will let you know as soon as I hear back.

    Thanks,
    Dave
  • Nail,

You are correct, the data sheet is in error here. It should be 11b, not 11h. If you configure the settings this way, is the link working?

    Thanks,
    Dave
  • I don't understand, if you agreed that I'm correct, why on  TI web site still that old datasheet with INCORRECT information presented.  By that error your ingineers created a lot of problems and don't worry to repair your errors ?  My boss was ready to charge TI for our 3 months delay --  we lost not only a lot of time, but also possibility to present our system to customer  with best  parameter  -- just half channels was working.

But then he decided not to do. Are you waiting that somebody other will do this ?

I'm very surprised by low qulification your engineers.  And I received bad words from my boss about my decision to work with TI ADCs. Previously we used just AD ADCs.  I still think that those TI ADCs are really good devices, but unattention  in description about using chips can destroy any good things...

    I'm very disappointed.

  • Nail,

We have a planned revision of the data sheet early in the first quarter of 2017, which will include the error that you have pointed out. We regret any issues this has caused you.

    Best regards,
    Dave
