I bought the ADS1298ECGFE-PDK and I try to make some test measurements.

I've downloaded the newest software 0.7.1 and follow the install steps from the file "sbau171.pdf" p.11-13.

The installation seems fine but than Windows cannot install the driver properly. I mean in the user guide at p.11-13

there is no information about installing drivers. It seems that you just press 3x "Next" and then everything should work.

But it doesn't.

When I try to install the driver manually from "..\ADS1298ECG-FE\driver" it also doesn't work.

The following warning appears:

There was a problem installing this hardware:

TMS320VC5509A (NI-VISA)

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The system cannot find the file specified

Then after repeating this step several time sometimes this warning appears:

There was a problem installing this hardware:

USBStyx

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The system cannot find the file specified

I also try to install the driver manually from "..\ADS1298ECG-FE\libmmb0\Styx\driver-win32" it also

doesn't work.

I looked up in the Device Manager and the device is not installed:

When I start the software sometimes it works to get the firmware version.

But as far as I press for example the "Acquire" or "Continous" Button this error appears:

And nothing works anymore

The tests were all done with a WinXP SP2 system.

What are the problems with the drivers?

I've already solved the problem.

I would recommend to add the steps to install the drivers

- NI VISA

- USBStyx

to the User Guide of the ADS1298ECG-FE.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to run the ADS1298ECG-FE (developers kit) latest software in Windows 7 but have not being able to do it.

When I double click the icon the program seems to look for several files then launches the ADS1298ECG-FE user interface and prompts the following error:

"An error occurred with error code 8""

Write to Text File in ADS1298EVM_Main.vi<APPEND>

C:\Program Files\ADS1298ECG-FE\limbmmb0\saved\Extyx History.txt"

I have started the program having the ADS1298ECG-FE hardware connected or not but the same error is prompted.

Also, if I have the user interface open (after the error prompted above) and try to synch the device by clicking on the "About" tab the "Acquire" or "Continuous" buttons, I get this error:

An error occurred with error code 6004

lvstyx.lvlib:check_styx_err.vi<ERR>

no error /ads1298evm/data

ADS1298EVM_Main.vi

One important detail is that the Firmware text box is empty so it seems the software is not getting any reading from the hardware. I have installed the software several times and nothing has changed. In the Control Panel/Device Manager I can find the driver "TMS320VC5509A (NI-VISA)" and seems to be working properly.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Hi Andres,

The software for the ADS1298 ECG-FE is not compatible with Windows 7 at the moment. We are working on supporting Win7, but in the meantime do you have access to an XP machine? That's going to be the fastest way to get up and running.

Hello Tom:
I am having the same problem exactly. Is there a fix yet? It has been over a year since the above post, actually almost 2 years, so I am hoping that there is a solution for this. If not what might be a good work around? Thanks for any help you can offer.

The ADS1298ECG-FE software was updated to support Windows7 last summer (June/July2012). You can download the latest version by linking through the product folder at http://www.ti.com/tool/ads1298ecgfe-pdk

One note, if you are using Win7 on a 64bit machine, let us know. We have a small path for the driver that needs to be installed. This will be included in the next update of the software.

which version of windows xp sp2 32bit or 64bit u used.

i installed the 64bit version but it is not working.

have successfully installed the ads1298 evaluation software on windows xp sp2 but while starting the application there displays error "

labview:an input parameter is invalid.for example if the inputis path,the path might contain a character not allowed by the os such as ? or @
the file lvsty_read_all_path_int.vi could not be loaded"

Hi Tom,

I'm having the same problem currently in Windows 8 with error code 8. The program opens, but trying to do anything with the software causes a crash. I'm assuming the software is not compatible with Windows 8, can you confirm this?

Yes, you are correct in that the software is not support on Windows 8; only Windows XP and Windows 7 are supported.
