ADC128D818: Do we still need to bypass the Reference pin??????

Part Number: ADC128D818
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP20

Hello,

I have a customer who is using  I2C ADC, ADC128D818C, with the internal reference to measure the analog voltage output of a bunch of TMP20 temperature sensors.

they want to use the internal voltage reference as it seems to be more than sufficient to do the job.

Do they still need to bypass the Reference pin??????

Regards,

David

  • Hi David,

I suggest that you at least put down footprints for bypass caps if there is available board space. You do not need to install the caps, but the footprints will give you a point to wire in an external reference if the internal reference does not give the desired performance level of the system.
